A Break in the Clouds: A Collection of Short Stories, a Novel, and Selected Poems

By Robert Valletta

A BREAK IN THE CLOUDS is a collection of young adult short stories and poems, and includes a modern-day suspense-thriller novel entitled NAKED AGGRESSION. The short stories and poems reflect the struggles and challenges that a young man faces as he grows toward adulthood. While he considers his clouded future, his dreams of freedom and a sense of adventure lead him along a winding path that is less traveled than most. It is a poignant tale of one young man's search for truth amid uncertain darkness, and the lessons illuminated along the journey through A BREAK IN THE CLOUDS. NAKED AGGRESSION is a modern-day suspense and techno-thriller novel. United States Marine Lieutenant Jeremy Gallaher is blinded, bloodied with shrapnel wounds, captured by enemy forces and left for dead in a minefield during a conflict in North Korea. Brad Crane, Gallaher's longtime friend and son of the Special Assistant to the President, delves into the connection between the mysterious and unusual deaths of five seemingly unrelated scientists, all with Top Secret clearance, and is brutally murdered. Lieutenant Gallaher recovers from his battlefield wounds onboard a British hospital ship, and at the request and guidance of Brad Crane's distraught father, he embarks upon his own determined investigation into the murders of Brad and the five scientists. Gallaher's efforts lead him to a life-threatening confrontation with the killers, who intend to reset the balance of global military power. Gallaher must risk everything in a race against time to destroy a game-changing high technology weapons platform before it is deployed by a Russian nuclear-powered submarine in a vicious act of global terror and NAKED AGGRESSION.
