A Big Slim Pig: phonetically programmed reading/drawing book

This phonetically programmed book contains 39 mini-stories. Each story features several words with a specific vowel or variant vowel sound (such as short a, ee, ou, etc.). There is an accompanying word list containing many more words with that sound. Below the story is space for drawing a picture which represents the story. This book is in American English.I am an elementary and special education teacher. Beginning readers, or those with learning difficulties, delight in being able to read so many words more easily. With some practice, these words become automatically recognized. Since many of these words are embodied in multi-syllable words, this enables children to be able to start reading larger words. My first graders would choose to read their word list books, during free time, instead of coloring or working puzzles. It is magical to me, as a teacher, to observe children learning to read.
