Now, in A Beggar's Ride, we meet Hamilton Greer again as he returns to the racetrack after a year's respite, and it appears that little has changed for him but the restless nomad spirit he feels compelled to follow.
From Santa Anita he makes his way to Kentucky to witness his first Derby before fortune leads him across the pond to Ireland, England, and France, including trips to the Irish Derby and the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe. He gets to enjoy thrills and adventure, love and romance, and cash few big bets before fate pitches him a curveball.
Ham soon learns that although the life he loves in his racetrack world may be simple, the rest of the world can be a rocky road, and there can be plenty of pitfalls along the way.
As Ham crosses paths with an Irish ex-steeplechase rider named Rory, little does he suspect his life will take a bizarre turn, throwing him in with smugglers and drug dealers, ruthless killers and a whole web of criminal types, some of whom are intent on doing him harm.
