A Beckon Wind is set in a fictional region in the north of Britain in the year 1964. Mystical and superstitious fears survive in the people of these pages; perhaps not unlike the apprehensions we all have lurking about us-or within us. . . Graham Stanley is a newly graduated young constable who through haphazard circumstance has been able to land a job in an un-sought, yet picturesque and alluring, region of the land. It is at least employment, but will be very boring, and he is certain to not like the area.Such is life. Upon the very morning of the constable's arrival to his new post, a body is discovered within a cove that harbours unusual characteristics. Graham's journey is merely beginning. The mystical traits of this land, the solid personage of his superior, and the confusing attitudes and humourous experiences that this callow constable encounters begin to shape his character. Strangely it is as if he is drawn through destiny to this very locale.
