Bakhtin's philosophical and linguistic insights are examined in relation to works by Giotto, Tilman Riemenschneider, Diego Vel zquez, Paul C zanne, Pablo Picasso, Robert Rauschenberg, Marlene Dumas, Lee Bontecou, Anthony Caro, and Adrian Ghenie.
