In this second book in the series, we see Josh beginning to develop some of the symptoms of fetal alcohol specrum disorder, or FASD. Jan Crossen has written sensitively about Josh, drawing us in with descriptions of his bright spirit, and the love that she feels for him. This book, like all in the series, is a very important one for anyone who works with children and young people in our troubled world.
Great insight to help understand FASD

I just finished 9 Lives, Cat Tales and 9 Lives, Full Circle. They were so fascinating to me that I could not put them down. I laughed with you and I cried with you, and I cried even more as I began to understand what you, and others, who love a child who is living with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD), are going through. Tough times, I am sure. God surely put Jamie and Mamma B there together to be with Joshua. They hung in there and got through it, and pulled Joshua through, to give him his umpteenth chance at living. Once I got through understanding the message I came to realize what extraordinary talent you have developed in your writing. I felt the emotion and the heartache, the successes and failures, the tearing apart of your insides when you were screaming out for answers, and Josh not understanding why he did things, why he forgot, or why it was such a big deal to everyone else. THANK YOU FOR WRITING YOUR BOOKS so others can learn about FASD. Thank you for writing the story about Joshua's forever family and the amazing power of love. Ol John and Miss Ginny

This amazing story is told with joy and love by an incredible Mother, Jamie, who adopted her son Joshua when he was 8 years old. The highs and lows of life for this interracial family are sometimes extreme. Josh has special needs which resulted from his birth mother drinking alcohol while pregnant. He is charming, eager and talented and his two Moms' nurture and guide him with patience and humor through many adventures and learning experiences. The book presents a truthful and heartwarming tale of a complicated family unit and how wonderful moments can be in such circumstances.
I LOVED this book!

9 Lives, Cat Tales, is a page turner! I couldn't wait to see what this young fellow, Josh, was going to experience next. The chapters are short and easy to read and because it is written in the first person, I felt like I was in the same room as Josh as he was telling me his stories and recollections. After I finished this book, I wanted to invite Josh over to dinner to share more of his memories. I'm looking forward to reading the third book in the author's trilogy.
