It names 109 places across 412 dated entries. Alongside the daily entries the volume carries one casualty and personnel return, ten reports, narratives and plans, twenty-five Operation Orders and five maps. The diary opens at Hemel Hempstead on 9 April 1915. 1915 is spent at Bromley, Hemel Hempstead, Stansted and Much Hadham. 1916 is the most travelled year, 271 places against 95 in the next busiest, and is spent at Boyton, Corton, Sutton Veny, No.3 Boston Camp and West Down Salisbury. It closes at Marseilles on 30 November 1916. Bromley is where it spent longest, 148 days across thirty separate stays, including a single unbroken stay of 77 and it came back to Boyton 37 separate times. In 1915 it is also recorded at Bromley Standon, Ware, Herts, Rollestone Camp, S Of Y In Ivory, Clock House, Black Narley Lodge, Drummond, Terling, Dummor, Hadham and Bishops Stortford. In 1916 it is also recorded at Much Hadham, Elsenham, Bromley, Stansted, Southminster, Chelmsford, Buntingford, Corton and Boyton, Hindon-Sherrington and Pertwood.
