Lots of Variety

50 Country Quilting Projects / 0-87857-886-2 I own quite a few second-hand quilting books and once you get past the "basics" that every book includes, the real question is whether this book has anything you haven't already seen in another book. In this case, there's nothing here that you can't find elsewhere, but there is a LOT of variety. Although this book has a lot of bed quilts, it's more of a quilt-projects book. There are plenty of good "biscuit" ideas, including kitchen potholders and basket liners. There's a Halloween trick-or-treat bag, Christmas ornaments and tree skirt, and lots of seasonal quilted projects. All of them look professionally done, too, not like "kid stuff", although this is definitely a "country kitchen" quilting book, so if you like a more modern quilted look, be aware. The bed quilts here are very pretty and varied, too. There's a beautiful variation on the Texas Star and Broken Star type quilts that involves a "star" made entirely out of square blocks. The visual is quite striking, and square quilting is easier for me to piece on my machine. I really recommend this book, especially since the price is such a bargain.
