It names 37 places across 45 dated entries. Alongside the daily entries the volume carries one report or narrative, two Operation Orders and seven appendices. Among the papers are: 5th Cavalry Division March Table (Issued with operation order No. 38). The diary opens at Embreville on 1 January 1917. 1917 is the most travelled year, 29 places against 12 in the next busiest, and is spent at Embreville, Trois Vaux, Montigny Dump, Tertry and Renty. 1918 is spent at Jeancourt, Trefcon, Buire, Lamotte-Brebiere and Rouen. It closes at Rouen on 20 April 1918. Embreville is where it spent longest, 81 days, it came back to Trefcon three separate times, and the longest it stayed anywhere without moving was 77 days at Trois Vaux. Trench and battlefield features named in the diary include Bias Wood and Jacquenne Copse. In 1917 it is also recorded at Bois De Mereacourt, Warfusee, Rainecourt, Buire, Suzanne, Ribemont, Marieux, La Thieuloye, Watou and Campagne. In 1918 it is also recorded at Doingt, Barleux, Foucaucourt, Caix, Bayonvillers, Boves, Cambos Fm and Ailly-Le-Haut-Clocher.
