An 'imaginary autobiography' set in factual context, 5:3:1 Ratio of Racism was inspired by a brave Cape Corps soldier whom Frank Streek befriended during World War 2 while in the 1st Royal Natal Carbineers fighting against German and Italian forces in North Africa's Western Desert. Jacko Swartz of District Six epitomized the Non-European Army Services and the travails faced by its members during that era: already a second-class class citizen on home soil, he voluntarily put his life on the line to help Allied countries halt the march of Nazism-Fascism, only to be thanked upon his return with even harsher statutory discrimination and degradation based solely on the colour of his skin.
