This book and series made me think

Never thought too much about being "prepped" for anything. Start with the first book One Second After. I am glad I read this series because it was thought provoking and kept me very interested.
Sentimentality meets mediocre writing

The premise of this book - a world-ending event sets citizens against leaders when a species-wide triage must be made - has a lot of potential. Unfortunately, Mr Forstchen's filled this book with one-dimensional characters and moral lessons as subtle and nuanced as a sledgehammer. He set out to write a great novel and ended up writing a passable fable. Mr. Forstchen also seems to have forgotten to hire a proofreader. Lines repeat within a page of each other and the wrong word is used in several places (You can tell he used spell-check, at least).
It's not a terrible book, but I wish I had borrowed it instead of buying it.
