Aaness is pushing her love for Paul Auster in this strangely composed short story that takes place in an airport, asking, "How are the passengers connected, what stories do they carry, and what actions and relations impact and protect them?" This book is a thoughtful meditation on how the past shapes us without defining us. For readers seeking a deeply personal story that resonates on a human level, Happy Belated Birthday is a must-read.
