31 Lineups is a book about returning without expectation.

Over the course of thirty-one days, the author enters the water again and again, knowing in advance that nothing in particular is waiting there. There is no clear objective, no measurable improvement, no narrative of progress. Some days feel heavy, others empty. Most feel unfinished. The body learns very little. The mind wanders, resists, insists.
