Fifteen years teaching and thirteen years in pastoral roles at a boys' Grammar School has given Jonathan Bleakley a particular perspective on what what adolescent boys need to develop to become decent and honourable young men. Contrary to the all too common perspective, teenagers not only do not simply respond to entertainment, but actually seek after clear boundaries and unambiguous moral frameworks. Without these being provided for them by those in authority (who must also be those who have earned their respect), they will find alternative frameworks in which to live themselves. These frameworks will be informed by the most pervasive influences in their lives - unfortunately for many, this can be the "wild-west" of social media. However, it need not be. By setting clear contexts, often in narrative form, Jonathan Bleakley provides a series of moral lessons, most of which were delivered in assemblies during his teaching career.
