This compilation is an okay combination of Zane Grey's work. Man of the Forest tells the story of a loner who learns to live again, and begins to relate Zane Grey's idea on ecology and conservation. The Rainbow Trail answers the many questions readers have always wondered about the ending of Riders of the Purple Sage--what happened to Lassiter and Jane? And Wildfire is Zane Grey's treatise to the horse. He did for the horse what Jack London did for the dog. All three of these novels are classic Zane Grey. All written early in his writing career when he had something he needed and wanted to say. Most critics believe by 1920 Zane Grey had reached his peak. I don't agree with that, but you can't argue these three are three of his best.
