Exciting and Fun to read....

15 Months is the type of book that makes you not want to stop at the next chapter. Its really enjoyable to see what will happen in the next short story. I like how it was laid out, a collection of short stories that really helps you to appreciate all the different aspects of that difficult time in our history. The people the author associated with, the tough decisions he had to make all end up finishing with a strong point. A very good book..... I am glad to see a book like this on the shelves.

A fun book to read if you know anything about the military

Having served time in the Military, I understand pretty much everything that the author is talking about. It is exciting as you turn each page, you can actually see the author grow as as the story progresses. It isn't difficult to finish this book in one sitting. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves this type of adventure/Military Story. Belive me, It's just a fun book to read!

Ranks With Caputo's Classic

Caputo's book, Rumours of War, still is my all time favorite book about what it was like for the individual in Vietnam. But in the same way, the author has me identifying with his feelings and I had a sense of sorrow that I finished the book. I wanted to read and know more about the main character. That's the horrifying part of these first person Vietnam accounts...that someone actually lived it and must still be dealing with it's horrors. This author seemed honest and forthright...an ordinary man who found himself in a awful situation.

One of the best Viet Nam books I have ever read.

An outstanding read. Col Nicholson presents his Viet Nam experiences in such a way that you feel you are part of the story. His self depricating style takes you through a whole range of emotions from laughter to sorrow. A must read for anyone interested in military literature in general and the Viet Nam experience in particular.

I shared the anxiety, fear and adrenaline rush of the troops

I expected that each adventurous segment of ingress and egress to the land of the enemy would be similar and become boring, not so in this action packed and lethal account of a soldier's experience in a place and time which have left a scar on the minds of all Americans old enough to rember the 60s.Thom's descriptions had me feeling the sweat, rain, stinging insects, mus and fear of the bad guys as he and his company of trained killers crept through the jungles. I was awed by the progressive emotional changes as the young offocer was transformed from a gung ho machine to a man anxious for his time to leave it all behind him. The loss of comrades and friends to both enemy and frindly fire wore heavily on the hero of this saga.I have known the author since before his Army days and I could hear his voice in every quotation and I know that it was a true representation of events. I believe that every tale of this book was written with a minimum of embelishments for the sake of sensationalism.I liked it and recommend it to anyone who wants to feel the way it must have been to be dropped off, abandoned and withdrawn from dangerous situations.
