1498 AD: Vasco Da Gama in India

Twenty-three years of the present millennium are almost gone. Human memory often forgets the facts. Today's world hardly knows about the world of the fifth and sixth centuries back. The continents of North America, South America, and Australia were not known to the world. That world was almost half of the present world. Activity hot centers like New York City, Los Angeles, Montreal, Ottawa, Rio, Sydney, etc., were not on the world map. What scientists and computer experts are doing today for the world was undertaken by the sailors, mariners, and cartographers of Europe. They left their comfort zone and jumped into the oceans. Christopher Columbus was the first to win laurels by giving America to the world and also by setting world mariners in a frenzy. Within fewer than a hundred years of the 15th century, our world was gifted with many cities, several oceans, and continents without which our world is hardly conceivable.

Out of many, Columbus and Vasco Da Gama are the faces of the mariner and sailor crowd. Both were committed and dedicated to searching for the sea route from Europe to India. Luckily for humanity, Columbus drifted away from his goal yet succeeded in giving America. Not very far in time, Vasco Da Gama succeeded in hitting the jackpot by finding out the sea route from Lisbon to India via the southernmost tip of Africa now known as the Cape of Good Hope. Both Columbus and Vasco da Gama and many of his team and followers have certainly transformed our world to an inconceivable extent.

"1498 AD: Vasco Da Gama" is about the efforts of Vasco Da Gama on the high seas of the Atlantic and Indian Ocean extending up to the Pacific Ocean. Surprisingly, Vasco Da Gama is credited for discovering India, though it was already known to the then world and even to Vasco Da Gama. Controversy aside, Vasco Da Gama certainly discovered a sea route from Lisbon, Portugal, to India in the 15th century when the world was not so developed to undertake voyages on the ocean. Let's hope "1498 AD: Vasco Da Gama in India" will refresh the memory of the world about the pioneering efforts and daredevilry spirit of Vasco Da Gama.
