Why is it so hard to forgive? And if we do forgive, do we really mean it? I have heard countless times from people... "I will forgive them, but I won't forget." Many people refuse to forgive because they are all about self. They are all about what self wants, what makes self happy. Life is not about self. Life is about love and relationships with others. God created us to be in relationship with others and how we can help them. Being self absorb, many times creates sickness in our bodies. Then you have sickness from past hurts that gets placed onto others intentional or unintentionally. This create more hurt people. As followers of Christ, we must forgive ourselves and others to live they way God created us too.
