A helpful tool...

As part of my job function I am required, on occasion, to write a performance improvement plan. In the ideal world, such exercise would not be necessary, but reality dictates otherwise.This year, I found myself having to draft an improvement plan for one of my employees and I wanted to ensure that it was sustainable, realistic and measureable... all the things needed in the corporate context.I picked up this small book and found it to be quite useful. It's presented in an easy-to-read format that walks a first-timer through the process and set-up of both performance appraisals and improvement plans and gives a good understanding of parameters (excellent refresher for the experienced in this functional requirement).Using the book as a guideline, I was able to structure a detailed improvement plan outline and one that I can measure the performance of the employee's progress or lack thereof.If you feel intimidated at the though of structuring an improvement plan and don't know where to begin (or you're looking for a quick refresher), and are looking for something that gives the employee a tool to guide and direct them to improvement, I recommend this title as a good starter point.
