The 10 Minute Guide to Access 97 offers simple, practical help for busy people who need fast results. Through goal-oriented, 10-minute lessons, youll learn all the essential tasks for setting up and... This description may be from another edition of this product.
This book runs through the basics of building and using an Access database. The text is simple enough for beginners, and each chapter can indeed be read in about 10 minutes. I can't help feeling, though, that there is something more I need to know that wasn't covered in this book. In any case, if you're trying to dive in and use the program, and you don't know much about databases, this book can really help you out.
Great for its intended audience

This is an outstanding book for BEGINNERS learning Access. This is not a book for people who have used the program and are experienced with it. Other reviewers have dinged it for not being what THEY needed, but it sounds like they just bought the wrong book for their needs. Excellent step-by-step, foolproof guidance for the non-techie, such as a manager, an assistant, etc. who needs to set up a database quickly.

Excellent starter book for new Access users

This book delivered on its promise to get me up and running with Access 97. I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to cut to the chase with a clearly written book for users, not techno-geeks. I was building usable, robust databases after the first three chapters. There is one error on page 42, showing the "up one level" button on an open file dialog as a right arrow... but this is minor and will not confuse anyone who has spent some time with Windows 95. Coupled with Que's Special Edition Using Access 97, a person could be pretty dangerous with databases!
