Daisy goes undercover

Reviewed by Eric Zeda (age 8) for Reader Views (5/07) This story is about a little girl named Daisy who wants to be a spy. Daisy made a mustache with a marker, and pretended her mother's perfume was invisible ink. She also used the blow dryer as a laser, and a hairbrush as a walkie-talkie. She talked to people in code, but they did not understand what she was saying. Daisy got mad and started to grumble. Her mom decided to dress-up as a spy and started talking in code. Daisy was confused at first, but then she knew what her mother meant. They were going to eat cookies with lemonade, and ice cream. They took their snack and ate in bed. I didn't like the story a little, because it was too short and not exciting enough for me, but I did like when they dressed up as a spy. I wanted it to have more action. I would recommend "006 and a Half" for younger kids. Reviewed by Samuel Peralta (age 6) along with Parent for Reader Views (5/07) In this story Daisy transforms herself into a spy. She raids her mother's room and finds "some secret spy gadgets." Everyday ordinary objects become spy gear that can be used as a secret spy telephone, invisible ink, and a "secret baddie zapper." As a spy, Daisy speaks in code, but quickly becomes discouraged because no one understands what she is saying. Fortunately, her super-cool mom joins Daisy in her imaginary world; what follows is a wonderful time for Daisy and her mom. Sammy, my six-year-old son, really liked this book. He thought it was cool that Daisy was a spy and thought it was funny that people did not understand her. He also liked when she used the hairbrush as a telephone and really enjoyed the illustrations. Sammy recommends this book to kids his age. Parent Comment: This book is silly and fun. I particularly enjoyed Daisy's facial expressions. I would recommend "006 and a Half" for younger kids up to 6 years of age. The story line is too simple for older kids. My eight and nine-year-old boys thought it was cool Daisy was a spy, but were looking for more action and adventure.
