The Hakone Ekiden, officially known as the "Tokyo-Hakone University Relay Race," is an annual ultra-distance relay race held in January in Hakone, Japan. Meisei University was once a powerhouse that dominated the Hakone Ekiden, but now it's seen as a "fallen giant." Having failed to advance to the finals for two consecutive years, the October qualifying race represents the final opportunity for graduating captain Hayato Aoba.
