Sundara Ramasamy (1931-2005) was a novelist, short story writer, poet and a multifaceted personality. An important voice of modern Tamil literature, he moved it to new levels. In the series of books, republishing his collection of stories, Thiraikal aayiram is the third book. First published in 1975, the three 'novella's Thiraikal Aayiram, Illaatha Ondru and Thayakkam are in this collection in the same order. In the first edition's publisher note, it was mentioned as a collection of three novellas. But later they were added in collected short stories of Sundara Ramasamy as well.
