The Ancient Architecture in Syria (Djebel Rīḥā), authored by Butler and translated by Aisha Moussa, studies six of the most prominent archeological sites on Rīḥā mountain.
At the forefront comes Serjilla which features a variety of grand architectural structures, including houses, churches, baths, and tombs. Its villas tell a narrative about the lives of the townspeople in the Roman-Byzantine Syria, illustrating their wealth and the diverse economic, social, architectural, and religious activities they engaged in.
