Story is 5 star. These physical books are not.

This review is not about the Lewis's story. That is fantastic. The books, however, are awkward. The pages are so thick, glossy and stiff, it's uncomfortable to read/hold them. The spine is not flexible at all. It feels like I'm reading a fragile board book (tiny baby's book made of cardboard). I got this set because I figured my nephew would appreciate the illustrated version more than another without illustrations. But this set may be something I sell/trade and get him a different version.

Classic series; sent wrong binding

One of my favorite series I recommend for everyone. My previous version was a 7-in-1 book & I wanted to get hardcover individual books to reread and lend to my kids. However, I did not receive ”like new” hardcovers but instead ”good” softcovers. It was very disappointing because I don’t believe they would send the correct books if I ordered a second time. They offered to accept a return but it seemed like a hassle.

I was getting a pile of classics for my grandkids library, but…

Arrived fast but the cover is folded over and creased double dog ears, twisted spine and the book is dirty overall rough and not as described or at least not what I expected.

Enjoying my order

I always loved the Narnia movies and would watch them daily. Now that I got the chronicles of Narnia I can read all the books and see what changes they did when I read the book and se what wasn’t in the movies

Top Quality Edition

I'm not going to comment on the actual books contained in this all in one volume, but rather on the quality of the hardback edition itself. Often these all in one volumes are printed on poor quality paper, and have poor bindings - happily this is very much not the case here. The paper used has a silky feel, and you feel confident that the quality binding will keep the book intact for many years. Considering it's full retail price is about $30, the $17 price tag is great, adding to the value of this edition. If you are looking for a collector edition quality version of these novels, you won't go far wrong. The only better version I've come across is at Eastern Press, who usually charge at least $40 per book (sometimes as much as $60) - but their books are only for the most anal of collectors. I only mention them for those that have been disappointed with collector editions of other great fantasy novels, such as Tolkien's Lord of the Rings, and The Hobbit - as well as an awesome version of the Altas of Middle Earth, or Ursula Le Guin's Earthsea series.

Fantastic!

This is a FANTASTIC Audio production. The actors reading the books do a superb job: to the point that at times I don't believe it is the same person reading the different parts. They put such enthusiasm and character in to the voices and the readings that it makes the book come alive. If I have to mention a criticism it would be this: I tried listening to this on a stereo system but the volume variations in the readers intonation is too much. At times I had to turn the volume on the stereo way up to hear the softer parts of the recital and then it would be too loud. Listening to this on headphones is the way to go!
