The Great Schure!

This is perhaps the most Noble and Grandiose account of history, culture and religion that exists in narrative form. Edouard Schure is surely a Master. An Ever Inspirer. No one I have ever read has been able to produce the same effects in my Soul than Schure. Whoever reads this book with his soul will finally be able to see "The-All" like when one climbs the 9 symphonic mountains of Anton Bruckner. This novel should be read along side Schure's other famous treatise "From Sphinx to Christ - An Occult History", (for futher details, clarifications and explantions not included in "The Great Initiates").

An insightfull and transcendent history

Written in a relaxed narrative, Schure rolls out exactly what he promises, ' a study of the secret history of religions', Centered upon the primary charismatic genius of Rama, Krishna, Moses, Orpheus, Pythagorous, Plato, and Jesus Christ, Schure ties together a greatly compelling story of the history and manifestation of revelation and enlightenment in human history,A great read.

A book that gives unified view of all major religions.

The author presents a visionary based histories of great initiates of maojor religions. The author emphasises that the initiates like Rama, Krishna, Moses, Jesus are real historical persons. His work includes Plato, Pythagoras also. The Krishna's case is interesting; it includes the Rasa leela and His Gita advice to Arjuna; but Kamsa is left unkilled by Krishna. The Rama's history is totally shaped by theory of aryan invasion of India. For Christians, the Jesus's history may be a disappointment since it does not make him unique in the way traditional christianity projects. His respect for Greek thought do tilt the balance of the work. His reasons to exclude Buddha are not convincing. Buddha is perfect link between Krishna and Plato. One point to be noted is that the book was written in 1817.
