Rachel s mother, a pillar of their small refugee community of Jews who escaped the Inquisition, has never forgiven her daughter for being a difficult girl who refuses to live by the rules."
Beautifully written.. A story told with well developed characters who are easy to feel compassion and kinship toward. Ending was not rushed and although I hated to see the book end...she had completed her story. First book I've read by Alice Hoffman and I can see why her writing is praised. There are many more works by her I plan to explore.
