World War I

A Very Intense and Captivating story about a Young German Girl..about 20..whose Father ( her only parent) share a very close relationship..as her mother died when she was 9. Her Father is a German diplomat..and together they arrive in France ..so her Father can attend the World powers meeting...Which American President Woodrow Wilson will also be attending..so they can draw up some kind of Peace Treaty to satisfy all the Nations. While her father is at the meetings..Margot makes friends with a foreign Polish Woman named Krysia a accomplished Piano player...who ..little does Margot know..till the end..that Krysia is s Women with very dark secrets and acquaintances of other Characters in the story..who all have something to hide. Margot also meets a Very Handsome German Naval officer Georg...who she can't help but be attracted to...like she's never been to anyone in her life ! He offers her a job with helping him translate paper work..as she is proficient in a few languages from College. Together for lengths at a time..they both start to develop the same deep feelings for each other. How far will Margot let her feelings and attraction to Georg go..as SHE also is carrying a secret that she needs to protect.. It's truly an excellant story...full of intrigue, lies, loyalties of love...and loyalties to Country...love found and broken, Truths and lies her Father never told her...and casualties of war...that question what she really feels in her heart....and the biggest..being TRUE to herself...for once..no matter what everyone says or thinks..Margot wants to do WHAT she feels ..even if she succeeds or not. Right to the Bitter end..this story will definitely keeping you guessing and wondering the outcome. I Really LOVED every part of it. I can say though..this doesn't really have much to do with the other 2 books that are about World War II...this story is totally different Characters and names..that don't follow into the other 2 books.."The Kommandant's Girl".and "The Diplomats Wife.".. those 2 books cross Reference Characters from each story. Pam Jenoff is a Fascinating and and Awesome Writer...I truly think ...there isn't a story that she writes...that doesn't deserve a 5 star review. Truly a Wonderful deep ...thought provoking story. Love it ! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Another great novel by Pam Jenoff!

While this novel was not as great as The Kommandant's Girl, it was equally fascinating and quite a page turner. Set mainly in Versallies, Pam Jenoff tells the story of Margot, a young woman escaping from her life back in Berlin, trying to forget the life she knows she has to return to someday. There she meets George Richwalder (Kommandant) and within a week the two fall for one another. Secrets are all around with every character holding onto secrets of their own boiling down to a shocking betrayal . I would've given a full five stars to this book but it just ended where I wish the author would have went on or at least 're did the epilogue and showed more of Margot and George s life in Berlin and leading up to the events of The Kommandants Girl. It was an overall great read and Pam Jenoff's way with words is alwyas mesmerizing. Four and a half stars!!
