Book Overview

Today's students live in a world characterized by a growing diversity and richness of social differences. In the seventh edition of this popular text book, authors Chava Frankfort-Nachmias and Anna Leon-Guerrero continue to help students learn statistics through real research examples related to the dynamic interplay of race, class, gender, and other social variables. Focusing on the constant intersections between local and global social concerns and methods of inquiry and investigation, this new edition continues to emphasize intuition and common sense while demonstrating the link between the practice of statistics and important social issues. In addition, guides for reading and interpreting the research literature help students understand key statistical concepts, while SPSS demonstrations and a rich variety of exercises help them hone their problem-solving skills.

Easy Statistics!

I'm a Sociology minor and needed this text book for class! Luckily I took a statistics class in high school, but since then, have forgot how to use everything. This text book presented it chapters in an easy structured manners, with easy understandable examples. Statics can be difficult to understand, especially with other classes on the mind, but this book helped me out with ease. I also love the fact that there were SPSS problems with explanations. I learned how to use SPSS with ease at an undergraduate level and knowing such a program will help me get into graduate schools. I'm definitely keeping this book around for the future because it made learning statistics easy! Social Statistics for a Diverse Society 5th Edition

Social Statistics for a Diverse Society textbook

The book arrived promptly and in fantastic shape. It was also about $100 cheaper than had I bought it from my university bookstore. Great job!

Great desk reference! Great text!

I bought this text to refresh my quantitative skills after many years of qualitative research. The book is easy to follow, and teaches statistical methods in a way that focuses on application skills, rather than seeming like a math text. I love that it provides basic commands for methods in SAS and SPSS. Easy and concise enough for undergraduates to follow, but makes a great desk reference for seasoned social scientists.
