in loving memory of our little boy

This is a beautiful story of a loving, childless couple who lives by the sea. There was nothing in the world that they wanted more than a child. The husband is a fisherman and finds a "greyling" that turns into a child, and brings him home for his wife. This book touched my heart, and could have been written for me. My husband and I were a childless couple who lived near the sea (bay) and also wanted a child more than anything else in the world. After years of waiting, we were overjoyed to be expecting. We lost our little boy before he was born, and had this book donated to the local elementary school library in his honor.

Great Book!!

I think Jane Yolen told this story very well. I am a college student and did her for an Author Presentation and I was so shocked to see that the seal became a little boy. The Illustrations were absolutely fantastic. Kudos!!
