Book Overview

The next novel of psychological suspense and obsession from the authors of the blockbuster bestseller The Wife Between Us

Seeking women ages 18-32 to participate in a study on ethics and morality. Generous compensation. Anonymity guaranteed.

When Jessica Farris signs up for a psychology study conducted by the mysterious Dr. Shields, she thinks all she'll have to do is answer a few questions, collect her money, and leave.

Question #1: Could you tell a lie without feeling guilt?

But as the questions grow more and more intense and invasive and the sessions become outings where Jess is told what to wear and how to act, she begins to feel as though Dr. Shields may know what she's thinking...and what she's hiding.

Question #2: Have you ever deeply hurt someone you care about?

As Jess's paranoia grows, it becomes clear that she can no longer trust what in her life is real, and what is one of Dr. Shields' manipulative experiments. Caught in a web of deceit and jealousy, Jess quickly learns that some obsessions can be deadly.

Question #3: Should a punishment always fit the crime?

From the authors of the blockbuster bestseller The Wife Between Us comes an electrifying new novel about doubt, passion, and just how much you can trust someone.

Boring

Had this on my bookshelf for awhile and finally read the boring thing! Knew what was happening from the start but continued to finish as I was home with flu & nothing else new to read. You will know what story direction in first 75 pages. Just read last 75 pgs to end the misery. What a waste of good writing talent.

Fastest I've read a book!

I couldn't put this down - fascinating writing style and characters... Absolutely love it and didn't expect any of what happened. You get to know the characters quickly which makes a big difference of course, and the plot is intriguing... I couldn't wait to see what would happen to these characters. Memorable ending too.

Ehh

This book just felt really empty to me and it felt like a mish mash of other thrillers. I’m sorry maybe this book just ain’t for me but it was kind of boring 😭

Not bad

interesting read.

Loved It!

This is the second book written by writing duo Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen. I liked it less then their debut, but only marginally so. As always, I will do my best to avoid spoilers. I first read it in January/February 2019 immediately after reading their first book. In all 3 of their books (so far), they have employed the use of twist endings. This one wasn't quite as shocking as the one in the first book. I am surprised that on Goodreads, more people do not have this book and their previous book as physiological thrillers. These authors are great at not only making it seem like their character(s) might be losing their mind(s), but that you may be losing yours right along side them. I cannot wait for them to write more.

So far so good!

On chapter 52, & OH BOY! I can’t put it down! If you’re a fan of Ruth Ware or mystery/psychological thrillers, get this! It is for you!!!

a captivating and intense psychological fiction that is a must read!

ugh you know those books that make you really process what you read ??(in the best way possible). I finished the book thinking about everything that had happened days after and I still couldn’t get it out of my mind. just trust me on this you will not regret reading this book if you are into psychology or sociology or anything of that nature.
