Half-man, half-cat, Myhr travels the multi-verse with Terrin, a twisted wizard. Displaced from Earth by a travel spell gone bad, they're heading home, bouncing from one bizarre planet after another.... This description may be from another edition of this product.
One of my general rules of reading is, "Just because you really like books by a particular author, don't expect to enjoy his/her newest series." I started reading P.N. Elrod's vampire books when the first Jack Fleming novel came out, and I've been a devoted reader ever since. I did, however, resist the lure of "The Adventures of Myhr" for several months, unwilling to branch from vampire stories to a comedy/fantasy about a half man/half cat and his wizard partner. Stupid move on my part. This book is just an unbelievable amount of fun to read. Myhr is a great character, and by the end of just a few chapters I was already looking forward to another book in the series. How can you resist a character who has the body of a man and the face of a cat, wandering from world to world (with his partner, the wizard) in an attempt to get back home. While his partner handles the magical end of things, Myhr supports them as an entertainer, telling jokes and singing old Beatles songs to people who've never heard of The Beatles. Oh yeah - - people constantly mistake him for the magic practitioner of the pair, which leads to a lot of the fun. P. N. Elrod has always had a great writing style, but her capacity for humor and the ease with which she pulls together a great story in the midst of the jokes was truly a surprise. I'll be there when the next Myhr book comes along, and you should, too.
magic, magic where art thou?

Terrin the Texas wizard and his good buddy Myhr (rhymes with purr), are in the middle of being thrown from world to world (like the TV show sliders) when they land in one which quite literally sucks the magic out of people. This is bad news, as magic is how they move from world to world and both of them want to get home!Myhr is half man-half cat and all fun. This is a light hearted romp that takes you to hell and back, but doesn't take itself too seriously in the process. This is a distinct change of direction for the author Elrod who is better known for her vampire novels. If you want an enjoyable fantasy with some interesting and funny characters then this book is a good read.
High Wisdom, Low Comedy, and one Hell of a good read!

P. N. Elrod may have made her bones as a "Vampire Writer", but that doesn't mean she can't cover ALL the bases when she says "And Now For Something Completely Different."Take one cat-headed humanlike hero, add in his best friend, a VERY high level wizard/mage/realityhacker, toss in the fact that they're lost out in the MultiVerse, and then drop them right into the middle of the Place Where Hell's River Overflowed. After that, things get weird! :)And very very funny. This is a magnificently well-paced book, as the reader is led to just how deep is the slok our Heroes are standing in, and how carefully they must work their way out of it lest they do even more damage in the process. (Take a look at a city block after Superman's been fighting in it, and you'll see what I mean.) The prose is deft, the characters involving, the villains villainous, the belly laughs plentiful, the plot thickening superb and, as a bonus, there is some excellent wisdom to be found in just WHY our heroes are so careful. This story has made it onto my "Gotta RE-read this" list, and these days, given that I can't even begin to Keep Up With Them All, that list is the highest honor I can give a book.Thank you, Ms. Elrod. Your next Myhr book is already on my "Gotta get it" list.
Myhr is a fantastic new character

P.N. Elrod has delivered a sassy, fun to read story with a wonderful protagonist - Myhr, cat-faced and all man. Take an alternate universe, add more than a few dollops of magic gone awry, a large helping of great dialogue, and lots of "meanwhile, in another part of the forest" plotting, and this book keeps you focused and interested and having a good time. I hope there are sequels in the works, because following this character through more rumpuses would be just this side of paradise!jBaca
Great read

I found this book to be very entertaining. I did not want to put it down until I had read it cover to cover. Although P.N. Elrod is known for the Vampire Chronicles and this book is a departure, it was a fantastic read. I would recommend this to anyone. It will definitely put a smile on your face.
