English author Madeleine Sophie Wickham writes bestselling novels under her pen name Sophie Kinsella. While she has written successful books as Madeleine Wickham, it's her Shopaholic books, written under her Kinsella name, that are international bestsellers. The first two novels in the series were adapted into the film Confessions of a Shopaholic starring Isla Fisher and Hugh Dancy. Kinsella, born in 1969, attended independent schools and graduated from New College at the University of Oxford. She was working as a financial journalist when she wrote her first novel. The Tennis Party was an immediate critical and popular book, and she followed it up with six more novels using her own name. Kinsella submitted her first Shopaholic novel to her publisher anonymously, and it was published in 2005. She lives in London.
