Randy Wayne White draws on his thirteen years of experiences as a light-tackle fishing guide for his bestselling crime novels. White has also been a monthly columnist for Outside Magazine and traveled internationally as a journalist writing about natural history, archaeology, travel, and politics. His work also includes non-fiction and an award-winning television documentary. Born in 1950 in Ashland, Ohio, White grew up on a farm in Ohio and spent childhood summers in North Carolina. White went to high school in Davenport, Iowa. While he was working for the Fort Myers News-Press, he earned his captain's license and eventually bought a charter boat. White wrote seven novels using the pen name Randy Striker and eleven as Carl Ramm before the government closed Tarpon Bay to powerboat traffic, ending his charter business. Among his honors are the John D. MacDonald Award for Literary Excellence. White lives in Southwest Florida.
