Born in 1942 in Texas, writer Dorothy Garlock has written over forty bestselling historical romances. Garlock began her fiction writing career before retiring from her job as bookkeeper and columnist for the local paper in Clear Lake, Iowa. Garlock has also written under pen names Johanna Phillips, Dorothy Phillips, and Dorothy Glenn. The winner of a Romantic Times Lifetime Achievement Award, Garlock has also garnered many other honors including Reviewer's Choice and Affaire de Coeur awards. Over twelve million of her books are in print, in numerous languages and in more than thirty countries. She lives in Clear Lake, Iowa.
