Very Exciting Romance

Another wonderful story by Palmer. This had lots of excitement. Great characters.

A winner for Diana!!

The back of the book reads, "Most everyone in Jacobsville, Texas, steered clear of taciturn Cy Parks. However, spirited Lisa Monroe wasn't exactly quaking in her boots, and electrified the formidable loner with her sweetly tantalizing kisses. Their fiery passion escalated when the winter soldier returned to the line of duty-and claimed the lovely Lisa as his bride, to shield her from a revenge-seeking desperado. Clearly, Cy was ghetting mighty possessive of this enchanting woman who needed the type of safeguarding only he could provide. But who would protect the beguiling bride from him...?" My personal review, as an avid Diana Palmer reader, is that this is one of her more exciting, action-packed books. As it is one of her Soldiers of Fortune series, that is expected, but in addition, it was captivating with many sexual inferences. I would recommend this book to any person, whether or not they have had the pleasure of reading Diana's books.

excellent read

I have read so far all of D. PALMERS books,I can say this was an excellent book. The hereo character was what you will expect from a male hero. Cy Parks was dangers but gentle, understanding, and loving. so if you do not own this book, you will be missing out on a great thing.

Long Tall Texans meet Soldiers of Fortune!

I've always loved Ms. Palmer's series "Long, Tall Texans" and "Soldiers of Fortune," so I loved this book where she's combined the two. Cy Parks, a minor character from 2 previous "Long Tall Texan" novels, turns out to be more than he seems - enter "Soldiers of Fortune." This story crosses over, showing and referring to many of the characters from both series. We're back in Jacobsville, but this time Ms. Palmer's added a drug lord to the problems of ranching, and the small town of Jacobsville has apparently become a retirement home for former mercenaries. The overall story was great, even if the love story was a bit rushed. The only 2 problems I really had was the pregnancy issue (read the book) and the ending. The story was going along fine when all of the sudden it felt like Ms. Palmer decided to start telling another story before she ended this one. We move quickly from the main characters, Cy & Lisa, to a minor character, Micah Steele, without that warm fuzzy ending that most romance novels have. It was okay, but far too abrupt. I've seen characters from one story crossover or be carried over to another story, but this one leaped! It should have had a "To Be Continued..." at the end of it. Unfortunately, the next book doesn't come out until September 2001, so we're left hanging...

This is great!

I love Diana Palmer. She writes a great book, and I love her story lines. This one is a bit different than her usual, the heroine is recently widowed and her neighbor, Cy parks, ex-mercenary turns into her protector from the evil Lopez, drug lord. This book is one of many in the Jacobsville series. It's great though. The heroine is not timid at all, she gives as good as she gets.
