Books on Henry VII are few and far between for reasons that completely escape me as he was a complex, but very interesting personality in his own right. Thomas Penn has captured the essence of Henry and the myriad of personalities who contributed to establishing the Tudor dynasty and ensuring its survival, and those who plotted to exploit its weaknesses, in a book that is both readable and authoritative.
