A wonderful book for babies and toddlers

I was surprised to see the age range listed as 4 - 8. This is clearly a board book for babies. My 8-month-old sits through it happily and it's quickly become MY favorite book (hers is Brown Bear). The illustrations are adorable. The animals gestures are the perfect touch. Any parent with a boo hoo baby will fall in love with this book.

Great Classroom Read Aloud!

"What shall we do with the boo-hoo baby?" This book is hilarious, sure to make any 3, 4, or 5 year old laugh (and adults too)! Most young children are fascinated with both babies and farm animals, put them both together and you have a delightful, humorous story. The repetetive/predictable text in this book makes it a must have for all Pre-K and Kindergarten teachers. I am including this book in my lesson plans for my unit on Families, but it could easily be used for the Farm unit as well.

A family favourite!

I bought this for my second daughter when she was 10 months old, it quickly became her all time most loved book, and her 2 year old sister loved to read it with her. Now with a new baby in the family my now 2 year old and 3 1/2 year old still love it, and read along with it. They also now know to find the reason that their little brother is crying - does he want to play, feed, sleep etc. It is easy to read, discuss and involve your children in.

So Sweet and a Hit With Both My Kids!

This book was given to my son when he was about 6 months old. He is 13 months now and this is still one of his favorites. Such a simple, sweet storyline with darling illustrations. Whenever my 3 year old hears us reading it she will drop what she is doing and come listen. I have caught her reading it to her brother a time or two as well. A favorite at our house.

For Boo-Hooing Babies

It is odd to think that a 5 month old baby would have a preference of books, but this one seems to be one of the few that my son noticeably enjoys having read to him. When he is fussy, it even has a strange calming effect. Perhaps it is the funny animal sounds I get to make to him as I read (he especially likes the quacking duck sound). Perhaps it is the drawing style and the earthy color tones. Perhaps it is that the book is big enough for him to reach out and grab onto as I read it to him. Perhaps it is that he senses how much fun I am having reading it to him.I simply do not know what it is about this book that makes it one of my son's favorites...but I highly recommend giving it a try.
