Quite a remarkable book...helps you to make intelligent choices in midlife!

This is one of those books which I have amassed during my mid-life transitional years, in conjunction with Frederic Hudson & Richard Leider's books. Although, from my personal perspective, this book does not match the intellectual intensity & emotional density of the other authors' books, I still consider it to be quite remarkable. In a nutshell, this book is about making intelligent choices in midlife. The choices we make in our middle years determine the quality of the rest of our lives. Those that serve us well in the first half of life may not work for us in the second. I concur with her. The author weaves together her research, personal experiences, stories, & exercises showing us how to live & age well. I have particularly enjoyed reading Chapter 3 on Choices, Changes & More Choices; Chapter 8 on "I Make a Difference" & Chapter 14 on Remembering Who You Are. I also like the author's premise: "Aging well does not mean the absence of problems. It does mean we can choose to prepare for & recognise a fork in the road that comes to us during the second half of life. Wean recognise some problems that may confront us as we grow older. We can learn to avoid unnecessary suffering, & focus on attitudes & activities that ring us joy & fulfillment." At the end of the book, the author has included a series of physical, mental, emotional, financial, spiritual & environmental activities that invite generativity. Kudos to the author! On the whole, I would like to recommend this book to readers as supplementary reading to Frederick Hudson (Life Launch, The Adult Years) & Richard Leider (The Power of Purpose, Life Skills, The Inventurers)'s books.
