Concepts that can still be used in FoxPro 9.

I think that this is a great Visual FoxPro book. If you have any questions about the book, just ask one of the authors: Rod Paddock: http://blogs.officezealot.com/rod/ Rod is very knowledgeable about Visual FoxPro and his skills reflect on this book. After using the book for quite some time, I don't understand why the couple of bad reviews about this book. Someone complained about "screens". It doesn't make sense to me. This great book can used to help you, even if you have Visual FoxPro 9 installed. FoxPro didn't change much in terms of concepts. Just check what Ken Levy has to say: http://blogs.msdn.com/klevy/ The book is loaded with practical examples. If only one example of this book will help you get through a code hurdle you may face, I believe that's a well worth money invested. A must for those who need to implement the Windows API!

Not since the days when Mike Brachman was writing on integrating FoxPro and the Windows API has there been such a clear and concise text. This book as loads of great examples, and most importantly, discusses how to pass structures to Windows API functions that require those type of parameters.This book is a must for any serious Visual FoxPro Developer. Hopefully, the tradition of excellence will continue with a version 7.0 of this book in the future.

Great book for non-newbies

This is a great book for people that are already familiar with the Visual FoxPro environment. It provides a no bull approach to using Visual FoxPro for real. It has great coverage of the Windows API and a great set of libraries for Microsoft Office. If you want to learn how to use the advanced features of VFP quickly then this book is for you.

The book is a good source about Visual FoxPro 6 development.

A picturous book, provides good analysis as far as object-oriented programming, code, SQL, and Internet capabilities. The authors do not seem to suggest Fox in any, but only as a middle-tier solution in the Client/Server development. Disagreeing with the authors, Fox in fact may be an excelent and exceptional back/front-end for small and medium size and cost-effective database applications. Overall, it is an excellent source to get started/advanced with Visual FoxPro 6.
