Another great installation in the series

This is the 9th book in the series and after Volumes 7 and 8, which were two parts and felt drawn out in my opinion, this book brings back all of the excitement of Vampire Hunter D. The feeling of a medieval time comes into play with a princess and her knights and a village under its rules but of course Vampire Hunter D provides a twist and by the end, you end up feeling conflicted about villains and heroes alike. The fight scenes and the pacing were much better in my opinion, throwing back to Volume 2. I highly encourage getting this book if you've been loving the Vampire Hunter D series!

The Fairy Tale Princess

A Princess guarded by four Knights, encircled by rose bushes and who is being attacked by a dark figure. Well, it is a fairy tale come true. But the Princess is a Noble, the Knights are her willing bodyguards who kill at her command and the dark figure is D. This is truly a amazing story, turning the world upside down, as the villagers of Sakuri decide what they want - to live under the vampires or to die trying to free themselves? Frankly, this is much better than the last few novels in the series. Not that they are becoming flawed or bland. It just seems to have jumped at this novel to a higher level of skill.

D at his worst....Kikuchi at his best!

This book stands out from all the others. I enjoy this series immensly, I've really become a die-heard D fan over the past year...but there is just something about this book that sets it apart from the others. It's darker, it's colder, its more raw. The other books tend to tell a darkly poetic vampire story, and this one does the same but it's interlaced with amazing action, vivid sci-fi elements and harsh cruelity. It seems like everyone in this book is heartless and cruel...but the worst is D. He's never been a particarlly kind character, he's always been cold and detached...but for some reason in this book he's worse than ever before. I still cannot belive how this book ended....that was just to cruel, even for D. He cannot always be the hero I guess. All in all this book just amazes me...like every other book in this series it is not your typical beautiful and immortal vampire book.

good book

good book, can't wait for all the books to be translated, D is cold, you get a great example @ the end.

Series only gets better

i have enjoyed all of the Vampire Hunter books. So when I read this one it was only natural that I couldn't put it down. I was even late coming back from break a couple of times. So I say that you have to read this book, because of the imagintaion that went into creating the world that it takes place in.
