Rollicking yarn

Unreliable Witness is a cracking read from start to finish. The sveldte hero, Rupert Allason, the unreliable witness of the title, lays claim to the copywright in the book The Enigma Spy by "The Fifth Man" John Cairncross. He sues a publishing house and tells the judge "untruth after untruth in pursuit of his claim." Allason is disbelieved on oath and is branded "one of the most dishonest witnesses I have ever seen," by the furious judge. The story ends with the judge referring the matter to the prosecuting authorities thus teeing up the prospect of a rivetting sequel which may see our hero sewing mailbags with his old chum Lord Archer.
