DEFINITELY A 5 PLUSSS - AND THEN SOME!

Cadwallader Jones owned The Dancing Eel - a good place to drink and gather. Except for the lobsterbacks. [English] Francis Livingston, captain of the Light Company, 17th Regiment of Foot couldn't believe that Jones named his children according to the alphabet. Arm wrestling was great sport in those days and Livingston decided to challenge the Jones boys. Cad couldn't believe his eyes, for Livingston was a bit scrawny and fastidious. Ah, but then he was introduced to the English muscle. The man filled the door, blocking the pale light of the setting sun. He had massive, solid shoulders that looked like he could support the weight of the world as if it were a load of swansdown. Now we meet Jon. [nothing like the cover] Adam, Brendan, Carter, David, Frank - Jon Leighton stared sleepy-eyed at Elizabeth's endowments. And when they touched hands. Oh, My. Oh,yes there was Henry, George and Isaac who were bent on causing mischief. How about attacking the English company before they finish the fort. Only Bennie gets left behind. So many times did Bennie come to Jon's rescue and he to her. They were meant for each other. And what a way to build a friendship. Such a tenderness developed between Jon and Bennie that was beautiful to behold. Truly a great love story. I just had problems with the cover - no blanket - that stuff is scratchy - no massive build to the guy. And she certainly is not going to wear something satiny looking. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED - Couldn't put it down! definitely a keeper.

Ms. Law does it again! 15 Stars!

Elizabeth is use to being the different girl because she's taller, stronger and bigger than most women. She's the only girl is a huge family with brothers and a very protective father. A long time ago she realized no man would give want her his wife. The thought of being instantly attracted to a tall, strong, handsome man never crossed her mind until the sweet, lovable, kind and simple Jon Leighton walked into her life. Jon Leighton didn't want to be interested in the beautiful and stunning Elizabeth "Bennie" Jones. She made in feel things he hasn't in a long time. If he let his mind wander into more passionate things involving Bennie he wouldn't be able to do his job. The attraction between Elizabeth and Jon is allowed to grow slowly and the reader is able to enjoy the passion as it matures. When you start reading this story you won't be able to put the book down. I read it in two days! It was worth the money I paid. This book once agains proves what a wonderful and talented writer Ms. Law is. I wish I could give all her books more than five stars!

On a scale of 1-10, it'd be a 10!!

Adding to the excellent review above, one of the delightful facets of this book is the "jones" family itself. Bennie (Elizabeth) is the only girl with 6 "Hoss"-type protective brothers. They are a really close family with wonderful individual personalities. Bennie never thought she'd marry because she was "different" than the other girls. Taller, tougher and in her mind less pretty. But she has this incredibly awesome gift for music and playing the violin. Her music truly touches Jon's soul. Jon is incredible as the bumbling oaf with a tender heart and when little glimpses of the real man shine through its sometimes heartrending. He has given so much of himself for his country even though he was raised in endland. And complicating the matter for him is finding a traitor, which he believes is one of bennie's brothers. Of course the setting is the American Revolution and I always find that interesting. It was a wonderful book and definitely not your typical read. I loved it. I believe you will too.

I love, love, love this book!!!

Sometimes a book just strikes a cord in you and it's hard to explain why. The story of Bennie and Jon is so sweet yet passionate that I've read it countless times and never tire of it!Elizabeth Jones is the only daughter of a staunch patriotic family during the early stirrings of the American Revolution. She meets Jon a bumbling, slow-witted Redcoat and she immediately becomes his unofficial protector. What she doesn't know is that Jon is really Jonathan Leighton who is only pretending to be a bumbling fool while he works undercover for the Americans. Elizabeth finds herself falling in love with the simple-minded Jon, a big, gorgeous man who she feels is perfectly suited to her.Their romance developes and heats at a pace with that of the growing resentment of British interference in colonial life.I so recommend this book to anyone who wants to read a sweet, passionate love story, with beleivable characters set against the backdrop of a tumultuous time during our history.
