Weather Warden Baldwin is Back on Track

This is a much better book than its predecessor! The story moves along at breakneck speed and there are lots of unexpected twists and turns along the way. The memory-aspect of the book is done well, and Rachel Caine's method of revealing bits of Joanne's past by delving memories out of other characters' minds let's us see Joanne Baldwin in a new light, as others in the cast see her. Good action, strong story line, and believable dialogue make this a winner.

OMG!!!! Go back to book one in this series. Do not start here. Rachel Caine is wonderful. This series is great - I love all the characters. It has been enjoyable watching them evolve. Hurry and read them all the next installment comes out soon.

Gasping for Air

I stumbled across the first book in the Weather Warden series by accident. I plowed through the first 4 in 2 days. Luckily, the wait wasn't long for #5. The wait for "Thin Air" seemed like eons. I read it the first day it came out and wanted more, so I read the series over from the beginning. This is a tightly written group of novels. Each book builds on the one before it, so it is best to read them in order. Thin air started where Firestorm left off. When Joanne wakes up, she is alone, freezing and has no memory. Lewis comes to her aid, but she doesn't remember him and has no idea if she should trust him. All of the tragedies she experienced in the previous book are forgotten. Without giving any spoilers, Jo ends up fighting everyone for her life. People she trusted no longer trust her. If you like Kim Harrison, early LKH and Kelly Armstrong, you should enjoy this series. Rachel Caine's Weather Warden series is on my 'buy and read the day it comes out' list.

Amazing Conclusion to Firestorm...Wonderful!!

As we all well know, Firestorm ended painfully abrupt, with the reader left shaking his/her head or fist...or maybe both. But Thin Air picks up exactly where Firestorm left off, with the same hurried frenzy of the end of the world may be just around the corner. The book introduces new plots and characters, and flipflops at times, which can make it a little dizzying. Like the side plot concerning Sarah, don't worry, no spoilers, but it does get confusing and you may find yourself wanting more explanation concerning THAT. I know I did. Also, I have also found it infuriating, since around the third or fourth book, that the Wardens still do not answer Joanne's questions and are often guilty of using her as bait without mentioning it. Nonetheless it would take away from the books if it were any other way. Overall, I really enjoyed the sixth book, and for all those out there who were angry about the previous book's ending, worry not, this one is more tidy. Of course, there is always room for another catastrophe for the seventh...

Weather Warden Rocks!!!

The latest Weather Wardens: Thin Air, picks up right where Firestorm left off. I must say that this novel does move a little faster than Firestorm, although some parts drag out, they do so with other events. All the novels so far always have more than 1 crisis and this novel is no different. While we may be waiting to see where Jo goes next with this one matter, a totally new and unexpected one pops up that holds your attention for a chapter or so before giving a new revelation and then returning to the original crisis. As we remember from Firestorm, Jo's past has been taken from her and it was done so by Ashan, but now a demon has taken a hold of Jo's past and has turned into her and has its own plans in mind that are deadly, for Jo, for the demon needs to kill her so that it can be a complete Jo and not 3/4, so to speak. Soon Jo is on the run from the demon and all her friends, including David, for the demon has convinced them all that she is the real deal and that the real Jo is a demon that must be destroyed. Now Jo has taken help from unlikely sources who are going to help her while helping themselves at the same time. But like in all the Weather Warden novels this is only the beginning of Jo's troubles. She soon learns that she has an enemy close to home that has sold her out to another kind of enemy. (Very vague description I know, but I can't give anything too vital away!) But trying to convince her friends and destroy the demon is only the start of her troubles. Sacrifices will have to be made. With more help from another source that sends shock-waves through you, all begins to be well for Jo. Until the world becomes in serious danger, again, and this time Jo will need more help then ever. This Air rocked! It is without a doubt the best Wardens novel so far. As in each novel the ending leaves you hanging and dying to know what happens next and the sneak peek to the next novel only increases the anticipation. ***Also an insider's tip: Rachel Caine will be writing a new series (about 4 books) that star the Djinn. Also there are plans for 9 Weather Wardens total.
