There are apparently many versions of this book written over the years. This book covers the thrills and excitement of seven of them, 1955 the year the Dodgers finally beat the Yankees in an exciting 7 game series, 1975 the year the big Red Machine fought off a great Boston ball club, 1985 the year Bret Saberhagen and the Kansas City Royals were about to beat the Cardinals, their Missouri rivals, 1986 the year the Mets outlasted the Red Sox thanks in part due to the Buckner error of Mookie Wilson's ground ball in game 6, 1991 the year Kirby Puckett and his Twins were able to subdue the Atlanta Braves a team whose dominance in the National League was just beginning and 1992 and 1993 the years when the Blue Jays were able to beat the Braves and then the Phillies to win their first two World Championships. Some recent ones like 2001 and 2003 were also exciting and close but they came well after this book was published. I do think that omitting the 1960 series was a big mistake. In my mind that was still one of the greatest even though it was the Pirates who won on Mazeroski's walkoff home run.

This book is all about the best World Series in baseball history. This book is a non-fiction and is written by Richard J. Brenner. One of the stories is on the 1975 World Series between the Cincinnati Reds and the Boston Red Sox. This is a series that few baseball fans will ever forget. After five grueling games the Reds had a 3-2 advantage going into Boston. In game six the Reds took an early leaad that lasted until the eigth when Boston got a 3-run homer. Now the game was tied. The game went to the 12th inning when Carlton Fisk hit the first pitch downt the left field line. If it was fair the Red Sox would wint the game and force a game seven. As the ball went down the line, Fisk started to jump up and down and motioned the ball to go fair. Sure enough the ball stayed fair and the Red Sox forced a game seven. This book was very good. I would recomend this book to any baseball fan. This book has stories of things that a baseball fan should know. The thing that I really enjoyed about this book was the way it was written. I was always at the end of my chair wondering who or what would happen next. Baseball is a very unpredictable game. In this book, you will find out how thrue that statement is.
