Vampiric Society at it's best!

Did you like Interview with a Vampire? Do you play Vampire the Masquerade? You'll love this book!Renquist is the leader of a colony of vampires (or Nosferadu, as he prefers). His leadership is not uncontested and the Nos rebelling could not have chosen a worse time to rebell. "The Time Of Feasting." Renquist has to try to get the colony through "the time of feasting" without letting the entire world know that vampires exist... not an easy task in the best of times and made more difficult by vampires set on disobeying his every word....And then the hunter has to show up...

A great tale of modern urban vampires

'The Time of Feasting' by Mick Ferran was a great vampire novel that did not use the same elements of many other vampire novels. For one thing, it took place in the center of a modern urban city, wheras many (I'm not saying all) take place a few centries ago in some little village. I'm not critisizing the ones that do, though. Ferran included historical background in the novel, which gave it a fantastic effect. The detail and imagery that he used was great. Feran created terrific characters and and plot, and wrote it so well, you didn't want to stop. He kept in mind that the story took place in the city, but gave some of the older characters that same century old feel. All of this and more, and still managed to make this urban vampire tale have a semi-gothic feel. Excellent read!

Great for the speeding mind!

This was the first vampire book that i have read and i was not well educated in the past of vamparism tales. Mick Farren made the plot very clear and he explained the events with great detail. I found this book to be one of the best books I have ever read.

One of the best Vampire books I've read.....

I read this book right in the middle of reading Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles and it really is a good book. It is filled with a new group of vampres that have more problems then The Vampire Chronicles. It deals with a blood thirst that they must hide from the mortals of New York City, but when a rogue vampire decides to go against the rules the main body of Vampires has to kill him and get out of New York. Then throw in a drunk priest that thinks he's chosen to kill all evil and you have a great adventure on your hands. The imagrey used was excellent and I would like to see a sequel....

Vampires are not just in Transavania anymore

This has got to be one of the best vampire novels that i have ever read. A colony of nosferatu (vampires) living in New York is about to come under the spell of the 'Feasting', a time which the vampires have an uncontrollable urge to feed on humans.Victor Renquist, Master of the colony, is faced with two tasks, one is to control the colony's feeding frenzies so that the authorities would think that a serial killer is on the loose and not a band of vampires, and also to defeat the challenge for the head of the colony by a young and reckless nosferatu, Kurt Carfax. A neurotic,alcoholic,ex-priest starts his own singlular cruisade against the colony. Add a seasoned police detective to investigate the brutal and unusal killings and you have a great story. The book is a bloody delicious read, would make a great movie, and leaves you wondering what happens when they finally move to the west coast. I personally cannot wait to read more novels by Farren. If they are anything like this one, then the books are ones to be savored.
