A sharply conservative manifesto

The Right Way: Why The Left Is Wrong And The Right Is "Right" by Charles A. Salter (holder of five earned university degrees, including Tulane University, the University of Pennsylvania, and Harvard University) is a sharply conservative manifesto, that discusses a wide variety of social topics including abortion to gun control, poverty, sexuality, the first and second amendments, and global terrorism. Each topic is treated succinctly, over the course of a couple pages, presenting first what the author views as the "liberal" point of view, then what the author views as the "conservative" point of view (though oddly enough, the author tends to claim that all or the majority of "liberals" hold an extreme left-wing position on many issues, while simultaneously claiming that "conservatives" hold a wide gamut of ideals and perspectives, from moderate to hard-line right-wing). Though hardly impartial, and also strongly influenced by the author's devout Christian faith and beliefs, The Right Way does present thought-provoking issues and probes basic flaws, both theoretical and observed, in past policies pursued by the American government. A thought-provoking book, offering passionately charged arguments that should not be ignored, although it is unfortunately not long enough to give each difficult subject an appropriately in-depth complex analysis.

Finally...a handbook for conservatives and Home Educators!

This little book does the same things for the conservative reader that a year's subscription to a conservative magazine will do! It presents both the conservative and the liberal view on all the major cultural battles going on in America today...and it does it in a concise, readable, side-by -side format. Each of the 30 cultural issues examined is listed alphabetically and is cross-referenced, making this a very easy to use handbook. Enough background is given on each issue so that a reasonably informed citizen can catch up on where worldview shifts have taken place.The author admits in the preface that the extremes of each of the various worldviews issues are represented therein, and he makes it clear that the average reader will likely not be fully to one extreme or the other. However, by showing just how far to the the "left" that current thinking has strayed, he presents a valid picture of where that thinking will carry us! I highly recommend this little book and think it should be on a shelf next to the television in every conservative home! It would also be a great reference for Home Educators... and any parents who wish to help their older students get a grasp on the effects of Worldviews on Current Events!
