This and The Tattoo--Must Reads

I'm thinking that the New Yorkers just don't get it. Both novels are unforgettable, create the kind of scenes that stay with you.

Amazing and sad....

I've enjoyed both books by this author (this and The Tattoo) simply because of his ability to tell it as it is. I found myself rereading several pages, mainly because the sadness in some of the stories was so palpable, both in the way he describes things and in the fact that it's very true to real life. I'm hoping to read his third novel when it is published.
