a magical read

Having visited Nantucket-I was drawn by the title of the book and once I began reading, I could not put it down. As an RN who has worked with Alzheimers patients, I felt deeply for the son dealing with this issue, and how learning the truth softened him. How often we only know half the story in a given situation , and when we learn the other half our healing can begin. A truly great novel-one I will read many times.

Prince of Nantucket

This is a great book. I share the same difficult issues as a divorced father of a teenager; and my grandmother suffered from Alzheimers as did a key character in the book. I finished it in one night and recommend it highly. I think it would make a good movie. M Solomon

The Prince of Nantucket

This fast-moving novel pulled me into the vortex of interesting characters and plot and held me there to the very last page. Even though it dealt with some complex problems, it ended with a wonderful feeling of healing and completeness. I did not want to see the book end---I wanted more! I have already cast the movie and cannot wait for it to be made.

Page Turner!

I recently read this book over a rainy weekend. I was thoroughly engaged after the first chapter. It is a wonderful story and testament of the human spirit as it reminds each reader of why we are here and what really matters every day. Teddy, the main character is arrogant and ego driven from the onset but his relationship with his teenage daughter gives you a glimpse of his soft spots and his loyalty. Teddy's relationship with his sick mother is complex in all of the raw anger and vulnerability that the author conveys in his struggle to connect with this woman who he has despised for years. There is a love story to boot, which makes a novel complete to me! All and all, a wonderful Summer read. You will laugh, you will cry. You will walk away from this book with a newfound compassion for the debilitating desease of Alzheimer's and how in the end, all we can ever hold on to is this very precious moment! Go out and hug your kids, be kind to your family. Enjoy this wonderful story, I sure did!

Brings me back to summers on Cape Cod, Nantucket and Burlington

If you enjoyed Jan Goldstein's freshman prose "All That Matters" Then you will be thrilled by his much hardier sophomore outing "The Prince of Nantucket". It is as contemporary as the news yet has the feeling of days when the world was a much simpler place. Goldstein's writing is so vivid one actually starts to cast actors for the inevitable film in one's head. I don't want to give anything away except a boatload of these books to my friends and family so find out for yourself why Goldstein's audio book of the same name is already a best seller.
