Holy crap...

I lived in the Russian Far East (on Sakhalin if anyone cares) for a while when I was still in high school on foreign exchange, and this was just about the only thing I took with me (stupidly) besides clothes, a couple of books, and Kraft mac and cheese. By the time I went home it had been thrown up on, fallen in mud puddles deeper than I am tall, been run over by a Kamaz truck, was signed by the legendary Vyacheslav Butusov (I love Nautilus) and looked up possibly a trillion words before the back cover finally fell off. Excellent buy, but some words are not present. For example, 'lisp' is not in the English-Russian side, but is in the Russian-English side (long story short, I didn't know the word for 'gay'). 5 stars, and tougher than nails, too.

Excellent Reference

I never thought that I would give up using Smirnitsky's Russian-English or Mueller's English-Russian dictionaries; I relied on them for so long. But any more I find myself automatically reaching for my new Oxford when I need to look up a word! My wife does too, when she's looking for the right word in English. I recommend it highly if you regularly need a good Russian dictionary.

i have to say that i bought this book for this girl who lives in omsk russia.i like the girl. she had some difficulty in expressing some things too me, and as crazy as this sounds, her english improved with help from this book. english and russian cyrillic is in the dictionary-for translation. very recommended for russian women (wives)who marry american men, etc.

Excellent ! Best of the Pocket Dictionaries.

Very up to date. Large number of words. Great for language study or travel. Includes alternate meanings. Excellent choice of typeset. Very easy to read & use compared to other pocket dictionaries. And, a real bargain !
